| Longueville Upgrade to the latest Model |
|
|
Trevor Gray - Co-Owner
“We have always been happy with Power Tees as a product and without doubt it greatly enhances the experience for our patrons whilst increasing our revenue; a "win-win" situation. I could not envisage operating a successful range without Power Tees.
Our existing equipment was 6 years old and still performing well but Tim and I are ultra conscious of keeping our facilities up -to- date and although we had not really expected to fully upgrade for a few years, we decided that the terms offered us made it worthwhile acting now. We are sure that the latest improvements you have made will mean fewer machines being returned for maintenance and an even better functioning product for our patrons. |

| Power Tee wins 2009 Queens Award for Innovation |
|
Golf-Tech Limited, the UK automatic golf tee manufacturer based in Swindon has invented its way to the top of the leaderboard by receiving the 2009 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category. Notably it is the only company of its type in the golf range sector ever to be awarded this prestigious honour in the 44-year history of this Royal scheme.
Business Minister, Lord Mandelson,
said: "I heartily congratulate all today's winners of The Queen's Awards. These inspirational firms have proved they are amongst Britain's very best businesses. They are flying the flag for British enterprise, innovation and corporate responsibility, both here and abroad. They have achieved the UK's most prestigious standard of business excellence, and set the standard for other businesses to follow as they help lead Britain out of recession."
The UK's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, HRH The Duke of York,
said: "I'm delighted to see so many companies applying for, and winning, The Queen's Award for Enterprise this year. Over the years, I've visited many Queen's Award winning firms, and have seen first hand just what a boost this Award brings to their business and their employees. My sincere congratulations to this year's record haul of winners, and the individual recipients of The Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion, for their exceptional achievement in gaining this prestigious Award."
Minister for Trade & Investment, Lord Davies of Abersoch,
said: "A Queen's Award for Enterprise is an internationally-recognised symbol of business success. It is a standard that I believe all good businesses should aspire to. Past International Trade winners consistently tell us how their Award has helped open new doors for their company overseas. The fact that more firms than ever are now applying for The Queen's Award shows what a remarkably valuable endorsement this Award continues to be around the world."
In 2008
Prime Minister Gordon Brown said:
Queen’s Award winning companies are standard-bearers for the best of British business. They embody the spirit of enterprise and innovation that is so vital to the future of Britain’s economy. Whether large or small, every one of this year’s winning organisations has achieved outstanding success in its field. I congratulate them all on their diverse and remarkable achievements.”
Inventor and CEO Martin Wyeth said:
“It seems like a very long time since I first walked into a UK driving range and said to the general manager “I’ve had this great idea”.
What started in the cellar of my terrace house as a prototype made from old photocopiers, scrap timber and more string and tape than I would like to admit, has turned into a globally patented, national award winning innovation which is used daily by more than 60,000 golfers in ten countries.
As the inventor, designer, company owner and late night cleaner (more in the early days than lately) people often heap praise on me for taking a concept from the drawing board to the market to outright global leader. Walking around our sparkling new factory to peruse the glossy photographs of installations at places such as St Andrews, Wentworth and the Belfry, visitors nod, smile and delight in the pride that surrounds the whole company.
The question people most often ask is “how did you do it?” Well, I didn’t. A very famous inventor once said “invention is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration” I can only claim the 1% on the front end and a small share of the 99% on the back end. The reality of all businesses is simple, to succeed you need great people, great products and a good deal of hard work, dedication and attention to detail all focused at providing customer satisfaction. Golf-Tech has been very lucky to attract and retain a superb workforce who have all bought in to the principles of the business. An extension to these principles is shared by all of our customers who offer Power Tee to their golfers. Give your customers what they want and they will be loyal to you.
The fact that we are the world leader at what we do does help to inspire all who work at Golf-Tech, going to work in the morning is easier when you know you’re the best in your field.
It is with great pride that I accept the Queens Award for innovation 2009 on behalf of the entire staff at Golf-Tech.”
The Queen's Award for Enterprise consists of a business Award with three separate categories - International Trade, Innovation & Sustainable Development. These are recognised in the UK as the most prestigious accolade for business excellence and are respected as a mark of quality and success by the business community.
Likened by some to a “Corporate Knighthood”, Her Majesty The Queen grants this most prestigious UK Award for business performance. The Award is made on the advice of the Prime Minister who is assisted by an Advisory Committee.
Representatives of the businesses that win are invited to an evening reception given by The Queen at Buckingham Palace. The formal presentation ceremony is conducted at the winners' premises by the Lord-Lieutenant of the County as The Queen's representative.

| Power Tee - PGA Official Supplier - October 2008 |
|
|
The PGA has invited Power Tee to become an official supplier to its growing portfolio of national and international branded facilities.
It will join the PGA Official Supplier programme which has been established to support the Belfry-based association’s expanding global network of branded facilities in the UK, China, India, Russia, Spain and Turkey.
“We’re delighted to be working with Power Tee,” said Robert Maxfield, PGA director of property and development.
“Automated teeing devices are fast-becoming a must-have for golf academies and ranges around the world and it is important that all facilities carrying the PGA brand are at the forefront of the latest trends.”
Power Tee chief executive Martin Wyeth added: “We share the PGA’s commitment to growing and promoting the game and are delighted to have the opportunity to work closer with them.
“When I started automation in the UK every ball hit at practice ranges was teed up by hand, now Power Tee tees up more than three million balls per day in 10 countries.
“From Power Tees perspective the driving range really is the gateway to golf for most people and without friendly welcoming ranges offering an inviting, cost and time effective way to learn the basics of how to hit a golf ball the sport would be in a much poorer position than it is today.
“Power Tee grows the client base of a driving range by making the practice experience more fun, more rewarding and easier and we look forward to achieving similar success with PGA branded facilities.”
More than 1,200 of the PGA’s 7,500 membership are based overseas working in more than 70 countries with many employed in coaching and director of golf roles at PGA branded resorts.

| 49 Power Tees go into World of Golf - New Malden - June 2008 |
|
|
Golf-Tech have installed 50 new Power Tee units on both tiers of the driving range. This presented some unique challenges due to the construction of the building, the number of tees being fitted and the sheer volume of golfers using the facility throughout the day. Martin Wyeth Power Tee founder and owner says:
“We are delighted to have carried out this installation, as it is one of the highest profile sites in the golf range world. Power Tee has helped to ensure that the modernisation and high tech changes made to the overall site have been reflected in the driving range. Power Tee has significantly increased the number of balls hit on the range during a time when many golf ranges are experiencing downturns in business. In a facility such as Beverley Park where queuing is a daily occurrence and adding bays is not an option, Power Tee is the only way to add capacity. We also encourage golfers to hit more balls during their time on the range by making the experience more enjoyable, rewarding, relaxing and slightly quicker.
The construction of the range presented its own unique challenge, which was resolved using bespoke platforms constructed on site, giving us sufficient space to house our system without compromising the integrity of the building’s structure or cosmetics of the environment. By carefully planning the work flow and closely liaising with Grant Wright's team (CEO at WOG New Malden) we were able to minimise the disruption to the business and keep it open throughout the installation. We are delighted with the way that this has turned out. The new platforms are fully carpeted and not only make the golfer comfortable when stepping on to one of our tees, they look great and the step acts as a safety feature keeping meandering golfers out of the backswings of those practicing. Since we installed the Power Tees, trade and customer reaction has been excellent, as you would expect. Having installed more than 3,000 machines across 10 countries we know that our installation at Beverley Park will drive business for World of Golf for many years to come and would like to congratulate them on their innovative and proactive approach to modernising and redeveloping this iconic site”. |
